Liberty Mountain Resort

1.5 - 2 hours from DC

Carroll Valley, PA

Roundtop Mountain Resort claims the best Learn to Ski & Snowboard program in Pennsylvania.  The resort features programs for adults, kids 12 and under and a 4-weekend Mountain Explorers package for boarders and skiers ages 6 to 17. Wisp Resort

3 - 3.5 hours from DC

McHenry, MD

Mountain bike park by summer and skier’s paradise by winter, Wisp is an all-season resort that serves up some serious winter fun when the snow falls.  With beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain parks, and a sweet layout of runs for every level of downhiller, Wisp Resort definitely warrants the 3ish hour road trip from DC.  It’s close enough for a long day trip, or, you can treat yourself to a full weekend of wintry fun with a stay at the on-site hotel.

Seven Springs Mountain Resort

Seven Springs, PA

A monster of a mountain resort, Seven Springs features 33 trails, a whopping 7 terrain parks and 10 lifts for your boarding and skiing pleasure.  New this year, Seven Springs will offer an Uphill Travel Pass and a series of groomed trails for skinning and cross country ski enthusiasts.

Blue Knob

3 - 3.5 hours from DC

Claysburg, PA

Blue Knob is the home of the highest ski mountain in Pennsylvania and boasts the most challenging downhill runs in the area.  The resort features 34 trails with a variety of beginner and intermediate runs, as well as 35% advanced and 10% expert trails.  Blue Knob also offers tubing runs and a groomed Nordic ski track to please your whole crew.  Check the website often for snow updates and to purchase lift tickets in advance.
