Columbia Station

Live, no cover Jazz every night of the week, unbeatable atmosphere and American fare from every corner of the country come standard at Columbia Station. The classic Adams Morgan food n’ blues venue features local musicians and hosts traveling artists. Snag an outdoor patio seat on a summer night and enjoy good eats while live music floats over your table through the open front window.

Madam’s Organ

Nightly live Jazz and Blues, roof deck dancing and comfort food (good even before you get the drunchies!) await at Madam’s Organ. Hosting a killer regular weekly line-up of local musicians as well as visiting artists, there is no shortage of rhythmic backdrop for your soul food. Come by on a thirsty Thursday night for Noche Latina with Patrick Albán on the main stage and Drunkeoke (no description necessary) upstairs.

 Black Cat

A popular live music venue complete with in house bar and café, Black Cat offers a variety of local, visiting and international performers on two stages every night of the week. The Red Room Bar at Black Cat offers craft brews, full bar, Scotch and Bourbon selections, plus a pool table, pinball machine and jukebox. The Food For Thought Café features a full menu (with many vegan and vegetarian options) to fuel your party all night long. The venue boasts affordable tickets and an eclectic showcase of musicians in a rock club atmosphere. Check their schedule of upcoming shows and don’t miss this jammin spot.

The Black Squirrel

The neighborhood spot “Where Beers Come True,” The Black Squirrel features a sporadic calendar of quality live music as well as an impressive draft list and a killer burger menu. Three levels of craft brew fun pose a welcome challenge to the avid beer sampler and the friendly atmosphere invites you to come in and drink awhile.

Bossa Bistro & Lounge (Salsa)

 While famous for its live Salsa music and dancing, Bossa hits all the bases from World Music to Indie Rock (with live music Tuesday-Sunday) and serves up mean Northern Brazilian cuisine to boot. The popular spot also features rotating art exhibitions and often hosts spoken word and poetry events. Grab your caipirinhas and mojitos downstairs then boogie on up to the second floor to get your dance on.

Tryst

“No Corporate Coffee, No Matching Silverware” is the motto at Tryst coffeehouse, bar and lounge. Voted ‘Best Coffee House’ by City Paper, the Adams Morgan home-of-the-hipster spot also serves up live Jazz Monday-Wednesday nights from 8-10 pm and maintains a calendar including Classic Movie Tuesdays (with 5$ Old Fashioneds), Kill The Keg Saturdays and Sunday Study Hall (student ID required for $1 drip coffee in the city’s hottest study setting). Devastatingly cool, yet somehow still authentic, Tryst is a don’t miss for good eats, fancy sips and great beats – sink into a sofa, sip your cappuccino and enjoy the vibes

Acre 121

Slightly removed from the heart of the Adams Morgan hubbub, Acre 121 offers Southern soul food in a lively setting, amped up with live music and dancing Friday-Sunday nights (and some weeknight special events). Try the Grapefruit Old Fashioned, the Blackberry Aviation or the Tequila Ginger Snap to kick start your boot scootin’ and don’t miss happy hour specials (Monday-Friday 5-7 pm, Weekends late night 9-11pm). A seemingly oxymoron offering, Acre 121 also features several surprisingly scrumptious vegetarian soul food options such as the Spinach Ricotta Flatbread with BBQ onions.

Muzzette

Live music doesn’t get any better than your friends (or stangers) belting incorrect lyrics to a selection of over 70,000 songs in English, Spanish, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese. Muzzette offers private karaoke rooms for reasonable hourly rates and boasts an awesome menu complete with classic Korean small plates, BBQ, Bibim Bap, Noodle dishes and more.
