Alexandria Real Estate

Alexandria is one of America's most historical communities. Sitting just across the Potomac from Washington DC, this city of 146,000 was surveyed by George Washington in the 1740s, and named for the prominent Alexander family. It became part of the District of Columbia in 1791, then it was returned to Virginia in 1846, and then occupied by union forces throughout the civil war. Today Alexandria houses many major government offices, including the U.S. patent office. It's a great place to live, whether you're working in Alexandria or need to commute anywhere within the Beltway.
