NYE DC: How to Ring In 2016 In and Around the Capital City

2015 is quickly coming to a close and the DC area is loaded with events to welcome the coming year.  Whether you’re looking to party your pants off on the dance floor, learn something at a refined event, class it up, dress it down or bring the kids along, a variety of unique celebrations and events offers something for everyone.

Parties
Night at the Newseum

The Newseum is a Washington DC museum dedicated to telling the colorful stories of American history through the lens of the media throughout the ages, with celebration of free expression and freedom of the press as its core values.  On the last night of 2015, Project NYE DC brings a rocking New Years party to this stunning and inspiring setting.  Access to the museum’s many riveting exhibits, Wolfgang Puck hors d'oeuvres and an open bar from 10 pm to 2 am are just a few reasons to attend this celebration.  Watch the ball drop and dance the night away with fellow news lovers while you welcome 2016 and all the great stories it will bring.  Details, tickets and more info here.

Winter Wonderland Block Party at Eden Lounge

Five dance floors of music, top DJs and dancing await you and your pals on New Year’s Eve at the Eden Lounge in the heart of downtown DC.  This year’s guests will enjoy 2 hours of open bar and buffet, plus a live countdown and champagne toast at midnight.  Feel the beat in “The Cave” on the second floor, or ring in the New Year under the stars on the heated rooftop.  More info and tickets from Eventbrite here.

Masquerade Ball at Howard Theatre

The Howard Theatre is a swanky DC nightclub and burlesque show hall.  The Howard’s “elegantly seductive atmosphere” is sure to please party goers looking for a touch of class and high quality entertainment to go with their champagne on New Year’s Eve.  General admission, VIP and couple’s tickets (all including complimentary masquerade masks upon entry) start at $45 and a full dinner menu will be available.  Tickets and information here.

New Year’s Eve Potomac River Cruises

Several companies offer New Year’s Eve dinner cruises complete with music and dancing to welcome in 2016.  Spirit Cruises offers an open bar and dinner buffet, DJs and dancing, champagne toast at midnight and party favors.  A NYE cruise aboard Spirit’s sister ship The Odyssey comes with a bigger price tag for a slightly fancier bash.   Looking for something a little more casual with a little stretchier party pants?  All aboard the double decker Boomerang Party Yacht.  A New Year’s Eve about the Boomerang includes monument views, open bar and a rockin dance floor.  Float on into the New Year.
