The neighborhood of Mount Vernon Square lies in central Washington, just east of the Downtown neighborhood, and hosts the Washington Convention Center. A relatively small neighborhood, Mount Vernon Square is bounded by 1st Street and New Jersey Avenue to the east, 11th Street to the west, N Street to the north, and Massachusetts Avenue to the south. Several condominium buildings, including the exceptional Whitman, provide alternatives to house hunters not interested in the area’s townhouses. Metro riders can access the Green and Yellow Lines at the intersection of 7th and M Streets. Commuters hop right on either New York Avenue to Maryland or I395 to Virginia.
