Fast and Furious DC
Car racing

“I wanna go fast.”

Ricky Bobby said it all when he uttered this epic four-word decree of one man’s need for speed. There’s something about racecars, chili cheese fries and a loop of tread-marked hot asphalt that just makes you feel free.  If the 9-5 has got you needing a break from the ordinary, and taking it slow is not your idea of relaxation, hit the road and check out one of these high-speed DC-area driving experiences.

5 Unique DC Area CSA’s
(Community Supported Agriculture Programs)
Ginger

Local, organic food is always a good idea.  It’s good for the environment, the economy, the community and our personal health and wellness.  In the DC area, we are lucky to be surrounded by an abundance of local food options—the bread, produce, meat and dairy baskets overfloweth.  There are a multitude of small, organically run farms within a 100 mile radius of DC and about seventy CSA options available in the area.  In a CSA (community supported agriculture) model, community members pay a set share at the beginning of the growing season to a local farm that then guarantees the shareholder a portion of the farm’s bounty.  CSA members receive a weekly, or bi-weekly share of produce

The trees origins are actually part of DC’s rich diplomatic history. They were a gift from the Japanese to honor the friendship between the two nations. The first batch of trees arrived in 1910 diseased and had to be destroyed. In 1912, Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo successfully sent a second batch of 3000

Mountain Biking the DC Area: The 3 Sweetest Rides an Hour or Less From DC (And Where to Drink a Beer Afterwards)

In the immortal words of Benjamin Franklin, “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.”   If dear old Ben had ever been on a mountain bike—not likely, between the belly, the wig and the syphilis—he may have revised that statement to read “Bikes are proof that that God loves us and wants us to be happy and healthy; Beer is proof that God is proud of us.”

Beer and mountain biking have long been appreciated as complementary and harmonious elements.  As anyone who has ever completed a 30-miler with Everest-esque elevation gain can attest to: No amount of Gatorade can take the place of an ice cold IPA to replenish the sweat and

New Years celebrations have come and gone and everyone has gone back to their usual, resolution-breaking lives. Every year scores of people wax poetic about how this is the year they finally get in shape. This is the year they are going to get back to their high school weight (though why anyone would want to go back to anything pertaining to high school is beyond me). But come February, all great expectations are gone.  But rejoyce! February is the perfect time to get a handle on your love handles and get moving. There's no pressure of resolutions, just the pressure of trying to get your jeans to zip because buying a new pair is too expensive. But never fear, as usual, we are here to help. Here's our brilliant idea. Wait for it. Running. Want to know

Eastern Market Flowers
Well my friends, January has come to a close, tax season has begun, and panic has commenced. I'm not talking about panic over taxes that are almost due.  No, I am talking about the panic that Valentine's day is now only two weeks away. How could this have snuck up on me you wonder? Well it shouldn't have. There's only been dizzy, nausea-inducing displays for weeks of red hearts with crappy chocolate and cheesy cards with hearts and kisses and oddly, the characters from Frozen. Somehow the concept of ice + heart doesn't seem very romantic, but hey. Actually, now that I think about it, hearts aren't very romantic. Have you actually seen a real heart? Google it, it's gross. Part of the problem with Valentine's day is that there are so many freaking options,
