Bike to work day is May 17th 2013
DC is becoming more and more bike friendly. To encourage more people to get off the hot Metro, out of their air conditioned cars and get healthy, Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association sponsor a Bike to work day. Really, nearly every day can be a bike to work day.
We even got theses handy dandy bike pumps attached to some of the bike locking stations around DC.
The Metropolitian Branch Trail is part of the East Coast Greenway. If you were so inspired you could bike from Maine to Key West. While that might be a bit much for us, Our entire team here at Abbott Klar Real Estate Group will be biking to work and showing houses by bike on Bike to Work Day. So join us and the rest of the city as we hop on our bikes and enjoy our amazing city.
The bike paths areound the city are clearly marked, and here on Pennsylvania Ave are actually in the middle of the road. In some parts of the city (like on 15th st NW below) we have dedicated 'safe lanes' where the cars are parked 8 feet away from the curb in order to allow safe passage for bikes.
