The Clara Barton Condo building.
The Clara Barton and the Lafayette were built by the same builder in 2004 and are kind of 'sister' buildings.  Initially the plan was for The Lafayette to be the condo building and the Clara Barton to be a rental building.  But this is 2004 we are talking about.. the hight of the 'excitment' about real estate in DC.  Everyone was buying one or two condos those days.  Remember? People were camping out, waiting in lines all night just for the chance to buy a condo in downtown DC, sight unseen!  The demand was so high, in fact, that the developers decided to also sell out the Clara Barton as condos rather than hold it as a rental building.  Most of the amennities in these sister buildings are actually in the Clara Barton.  The bigger gym, the roof deck and roof deck pool, the awesome movie screening room, but owners in the Lafayette have access to all these through the 2nd floor halway.
One of the reasons we love these two building is the diverse mix of floor plans available.  Both the Clara Barton and The Lafayette offer everything from a small effficiency to a 3 bedroom 'sky-townhouse' to loft condos in the historical lower levels above the restaurunts and shops. The 3 level, 3 bedroom units even have a private roof deck.  There is a floor plan for everyone between these two buildings, right in the heart of Penn Quarter. And having access to two gyms is very helpful considering all the scrumptious restauraunts around here...
